Good morning First Baptist Church! I don’t know about you, but now that we’re halfway through the month of January, I am finding it easier to write down 2020 without having to correct the 2019 I wrote down by accident. I guess that means I’m settling into the new year!
Today, we are recognizing the fact that this is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday.  It is a day to remember that all human life was created by God and is to be used FOR Him! It is vitally important for the people of Christ to stand up and support the right to life. This is not a political issue. It is a human issue and furthermore, a spiritual one.
James 4:17 (NIV) says, “If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”
Let’s not be guilty of the sin of silence when God’s word is clear about the sanctity of life. Most of all, we point people to the life-giving sacrifice of Jesus Christ, so that they may be free from their sin and live abundantly!
The message this week is about “The Culture War” we find ourselves in. You can’t live as a Christian in our nation these days without realizing that there is an all-out assault on biblical values. Make no mistake about this fact: it all comes down to the matter of who is going to sit on the throne of our lives. If you listen to popular culture, they’ll tell you that YOU get to sit on that throne. You get to decide what truth is and what is best. The strange thing about that is they then send a different message by persuading you to do the same thing they do. They tell you what is right and wrong…and the only “wrong” thing happens to be following Jesus Christ by your verbal confession and the way you live.
You and I must always be alert as we seek to live with the kingdom of God in mind. 2 Corinthians 2:11 says, “so that we may not be taken advantage of by Satan. For we are not ignorant of his schemes.”
The only hope for America and for all humankind is Jesus Christ! He gave His life so we could know what life truly is! Let’s worship Him together on this glorious day!
In Christ,
Danny Sandifer
