Pastoral Staff
Danny Sandifer
Senior Pastor
I was born in Shreveport, Louisiana and my family moved to East Texas when I was in fourth grade. I guess I’m a LaTexan!  I graduated from Elysian Fields High School and a couple of years into my college experience, the Lord started impressing upon me a call to ministry.  I graduated from East Texas Baptist University in Christian Ministry.  I wrestled with discerning the specific type of ministry the Lord was calling me to. I took opportunities to preach after graduation. Then, unconvinced as to the Lord’s direction, I worked secular jobs.  You may also read that last sentence as “I ran from the Lord’s calling, while still being involved in church.”
Meanwhile, years later, through the ETBU Alumni association, I met my beautiful wife-to-be, Janet. It was meant to be!  She had graduated as a Music major. We never knew each other on campus. God’s timing is perfect though! We were married in March of 2008.  Our daughter Sarah came along in October of 2009. During that time, God had to get my attention so I would listen to His direction. I’ll spare you the gory details, but I fully surrendered to pastoral ministry in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel restaurant in Lindale, Texas and then, with relief, I went in and ate the best meal I had ever eaten up to that point!  How’s that for a preacher story? Except, it’s one hundred percent true!
I have pastored churches in Louisiana and Texas and now I am thrilled to serve as pastor of First Baptist Church here in Kerens! We have been here since May 2019 and we’re excited to see what the Lord is going to do with this amazing community of loving believers He has blessed us with!
